Summer of Love by Sister Corita

Well who was surprised today? Not quite what we expected from a nun was it? This exhibition is one that challenges us to think about history, especially civil unrest and how our faith should challenge us to stand up and do the right thing or have the right message for the world.

Your challenge today is twofold:-
1. Choose one of her screen prints that grabbed your attention. Describe it using your learning in writing. Comment on how Sister Corita 's work challenged you to think or wonder about something.
2. Research (also discuss with your parents one of the following things)
- what is the life of a nun? What has the changed for them over the past 50-70 years?
- who was Sister Corita? Tell us about her.
- what was happening in the sixties that inspired Sister Corita's work - you need to think about the political and world events as well as the changes happening in the Roman Catholic Church.

Take notes and begin planning the wonderful pop art you will create to tell your new found knowledge.
